What do I get for signing up?

The Healthy Food and Drink Initiative can provide a wide range of services and support. These services can be accessed in a variety of ways depending on what kind of establishment you are.

 

If you are a School

If you are a School

  • You can sign up to the Service Level Agreement, provided by the Healthy Food and Drink Team at Northamptonshire County Council. Which will then give your school access to an extensive range of support and services concerning healthy food and drink in your school.
  • Free School Meals Administration
  • Free School Meals Promotion
  • Free School Meal Invoice payment
  • Support and guidance regarding the Food Standards set by the DCSF and inspected by Ofsted
  • Support and guidance for schools for parents who provide a packed lunch
  • Support for schools with the use of the nutritional database to analyse menus and produce reports for Ofsted
  • Priority for training (costs may apply)
  • Support for schools working in clusters toward the Healthy Eating and Healthy Living Awards.
  • Support for teaching staff in the development of food education and food technology at all stages of the curriculum through advice, guidance and in service training.
  • To provide advice and guidance at the request on the provision of lunches where requested by parents, to pupils other than those entitled to Free School Meals.
  • To produce plans to comply with the Secretary of State’s condition of the School Meals Grant to reintroduce universal hot meals.
  • To provide events and activities to help your school promote healthy food and drink such as taster sessions, stands, and cookery demonstrations.
  • Support for caterers with inspections regarding the Food Hygiene ( England) Regulations 2006 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Access to Saffron Nutritional Software which analyses school meals.
  • Support for caterers regarding the quality of the food produced under the Food Based Standards 2007.
  • Support for schools looking to achieve the Heartbeat and Healthy Schools Awards.

 

If you are an Early Years setting;

  • You can access the Healthy Food and Drink Team to deliver a range of innovative, informative and fun activities with the children attending your establishment. These activities are designed to show children that food is fun by introducing a variety of activities such as unusual fruit and veg. This helps to demonstrate the importance of eating and drinking healthily. See our ‘ Activities Page’ for more information or to book your activity.
  • We will be working more closely with the Early Years settings over the next year to deliver a wider range of services.

If you are a Community Group

  • The Healthy Food and drink can deliver a range of innovative, informative and fun activities to children and families. We can also provide free training to enable you to organise an array of different initiatives such as breakfast clubs, cookery clubs, and growing clubs.

 

If you are an individual

  • Access our website for inspiration and ideas for simple, nutritious recipes and information regarding training and courses available to you.
